Why we started Retyche
Rita and I started Retyche because we couldn't find one thing in Canada: a luxury resale destination that treated pre-owned like it deserved to be treated. Not a thrift store. Not a warehouse. A place that specialized in great-condition bags, accessories, and jewelry — a focused, curated selection instead of a wall of everything. A place where a Chanel Kelly could sit on a velvet shelf and be described the way she'd want to be described.
Ten years later, we've moved millions of dollars of Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Dior through the store — and every single one of them came from someone like you. A woman who bought beautifully, wore it beautifully, and was ready for it to move on.

The seven steps to selling with Retyche
1. You reach out. Email consign@retyche.com or fill out the form at retyche.com/sell. Send a few photos of the item, brand, condition, and any receipts or authentication papers you have. If you're local to Montreal, you can walk into our Rockland store any day of the week — no appointment needed for a quick look.
2. Julia Finkelstein (our head buyer) or I review it and come back to you within 48 hours. Sometimes we say we can't take it (usually because the market for that specific piece has softened, or the condition needs work first). Sometimes we offer a straight buyout on the spot. For the rarest pieces — Hermès quota bags, exceptional watches, fine jewelry — we may recommend consignment instead. We explain which and why.
3. You drop it off or ship it in. If you're in Montreal, come by the store. If you're anywhere else in Canada or internationally and the item is worth over $500 CAD, we send you a prepaid shipping label.
4. We authenticate. Every piece — no exceptions, no shortcuts, no "trusted seller" pass-throughs. Authentication is done in-house by our trained team, and every single bag is additionally verified through Entrupy, the industry-standard AI authentication platform used by top consignment houses worldwide. Two layers of certainty on every bag. If a piece doesn't pass, it goes back to you and we tell you why.
5. We photograph and list. We shoot every piece the way a magazine would shoot it. Studio lighting, five to eight angles, close-ups on any wear so the buyer knows exactly what she's getting. It goes live on retyche.com within a week of arrival, and the piece is simultaneously available in-store at Rockland.
6. We sell it — usually in 30 days. Our average selling time is under a month. Some pieces move in a day. Some take 60 days. We use a built-in gentle discount schedule at 30, 60, and 90 days so nothing sits forever.
7. You get paid. For buyouts: within 2–3 business weeks of intake, via cheque or e-transfer. For consignment pieces: payouts start on the 15th of the month after the sale and are issued over the following 25 business days.
How we pay you: buyouts first, consignment for the rare
We do two things at Retyche, and we're going to be honest about which one you'll probably be offered.
Buyouts (what almost everyone gets)
For the vast majority of pieces we take in — bags, small leather goods, accessories, jewelry, watches, shoes, clothing — we offer a direct buyout. That means we buy your item from you outright at a fair price we agree on, and it becomes ours to sell.
You get paid within 2–3 business weeks of intake, by cheque or e-transfer.
Consignment (for the exceptional)
For pieces valued around $15,000 CAD and above — Hermès Birkins, Kellys, Constance bags, exceptional watches, fine jewelry, museum-grade collectibles — traditional consignment usually serves you better. The market on these pieces is smaller, the buyer is more particular, and the right home takes a little longer to find. On these pieces, we can offer:

Consignment payouts start on the 15th of the month after the sale and are issued over the following 25 business days — so it may not land on the 15th exactly, but the pay period begins then. Cheque or e-transfer, your choice.
If you have a piece in this tier, mention it in your first email — we handle these differently from intake through to sale.
How to know which you'll be offered
Almost every email we get results in a buyout offer. If you're selling a Louis Vuitton Neverfull, a Chanel Classic Flap in production, a Gucci Marmont, a Cartier Love bracelet, a Rolex Datejust, a Van Cleef Alhambra — buyout.
If it's a Birkin, a rare quota Kelly, a Constance, an exceptional watch, or museum-grade fine jewelry — we'll talk consignment.
Either way: the number we offer is transparent, non-negotiable, and reflects the piece's actual resale value in our market. We keep it that way so you don't have to shop three consignors to know we're fair.
What we accept
Handbags, small leather goods, accessories, jewelry, sunglasses, select shoes and clothing from these brands:
Chanel · Hermès · Louis Vuitton · Dior · Gucci · Prada · Bottega Veneta · Loewe · Celine · Saint Laurent · Givenchy · Valentino · Balenciaga · and other premium high-end designer brands.
We're strict on brand because our clientele is strict on brand. If you have a piece from a house we didn't list, email us anyway — we make exceptions for exceptional pieces.
We don't accept: anything unauthenticated we can't verify, pieces with major structural damage, or heavily altered/customized items.
If you're not in Montreal
We work with consignors across Canada, the U.S., France, and beyond. The process is exactly the same, just done by email and shipping label. Some of our biggest consignors have never set foot in our store. We work with what we can see in photos and confirm on arrival.
Frequently asked
How long is the consignment contract? Ninety days. If a consigned piece doesn't sell in that time, we return it to you within 10 days. Local pickup is free; return shipping in Canada is $25. Note: buyouts don't come back — once we've paid you, the piece is ours.
Will my item get discounted? On consignment pieces: yes, on a gentle scheduled discount at 30, 60, and 90 days — never below a floor we agree with you at intake. On buyouts: it's our piece, we price it however the market moves.
What happens if you decide my piece isn't authentic? We return it and charge a small authentication fee. This has happened fewer than a dozen times in ten years — but it does happen, and honesty is the foundation of everything we do.
Can I negotiate the buyout offer? The number Julia or I give you is what we can honestly offer while running a business, an authentication team, a Montreal storefront, marketing, and Canada-wide shipping. It reflects the piece's actual resale value in our market minus our operating costs. We keep it transparent because we'd rather earn your trust than negotiate for it.
How do you decide the price? Style, condition, current resale market data, brand demand, and our clientele's preferences. On buyouts, we tell you the price we're offering. On consignment, we share the listing price with you before it goes live — you approve, then we list.
When do I get paid? Buyouts: within 2–3 business weeks of intake, cheque or e-transfer. Consignment: payouts start on the 15th of the month after the sale and are issued over the following 25 business days. If your consigned piece sells July 20, your payout period begins August 15.
